The story behind the cloth|
Interview with graphic designer Michiel Schuurman who designs computer generated graphics and works for Dutch cloth company Vlisco.
Vlisco sells 'Guaranteed Dutch Design' to the African market. The traditional six yards of cloth, the length needed for a dress, are incorporated into local culture by attaching a story and a name to it. 'Michelle Obama's handbag' became a very popular design after the American first lady's visit to Africa. The 'Museum of Moderne Kunst Arnhem' showed the very informative exhibition 'Six yards of Dutch design' in the winter of 2012.
