4th Riga International Fibre Art Triennial, 2010
The textile and fibre art exhibition has developed into a cosmopolitan event. The 2007 theme 'Global Intrigue' was re-adopted, prompting participants to examine the global problems of our chaotic world. The artists focussed their attention on the human body, emotions, worldwide health problems, social and political subjects...immigration, emmigration etc. The organisers were pleased to note a return of classic techniques such as tapestry weaving, as well as an increase in use of digital looms. The artists's interest in installations is remarkable. We can recommend the catalogue which contains statements by the judges and excellent photographs of the exhibits. The publication is available from the curator, mrs. Velta Raudzepa, E/dlmm.velta@ml.lv
